It’s time for another Aurifil Artisan challenge; this is my final one for 2020 but don’t worry, there will be more next year.
I’m no stranger to hand quilting (although I used to be as I avoided pretty much all hand sewing up until a couple of years ago!) but I most often use it to highlight or border aspects of a project. For this Artisan challenge I decided to use hand quilting in a slightly different way…well not a totally different way, it’s more that I’ve used it in more ways.
I used one block from my Everlasting Star quilt pattern to make a new Christmas cushion. And I used the hand quilting in three different ways (and in five different colours!):
- highlighting the outline of one of the stars
- sewing over some of the fabric design details in the centre block
- dense quilting on the background sections to add texture

For this challenge I used Aurifil cotton 12wt in black (2692), pine (2892), medium mint (2835), light delft blue (2720) and lobster red (2265).
