Fabric Envelope | Tutorial

Why wrap a gift in paper when you could wrap it in a handmade fabric envelope! Perfect for a small gift for a birthday, wedding, anniversary or even Valentine’s Day. You can decorate the front with lots of different designs, using a variety of hand or machine sewing techniques. Let your imagination run wild!

This is a great scrap buster or the perfect chance to showcase a small amount of your favourite fabric, and can be made from just one fat quarter (or two fat eighths if you want a different lining).

I used a light-weight interfacing to add some structure to the envelope but you could use quilt wadding instead and then quilt it to add some lovely textures and structure; just leave a larger turning hole so you don’t struggle turning out the extra bulk. This project is also a great chance to have a play about with different hand quilting styles plus hand and machine embroidery designs.
